FinTech for the Precariat

Friday, October 29, 2021, 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.
Museum of the Moving Image – Lobby Café area

It has been projected that the 2020s will be the decade of the FinTech (Financial Technology) Revolution. Yet who will this revolution ultimately serve? On Halloween weekend, game designer and artist Ricardo Miranda Zuniga will invite museum guests to play FinTech for the Precariat, set in a fantastical New York City where the player hears the voices of people Miranda interviewed over the past year from across the financial spectrum, as well as ghoulish figures embodying such sins as Lust, Gluttony, Greed, and Envy. Taken together, these voices create a rich tapestry considering how our lives have been financialized. The game play will be preceded by a presentation from Miranda of his research, and will take place in the Museum's Café area. Recommended for ages 14+ for nudity.

Made possible by the City Artist Corps Grants program, presented by The New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA), with support from the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME) as well as Queens Theatre.

Free with Museum admission.
