A detailed portrait of the depression and a domestic epic, this version is more faithful to James M. Cain’s novel than Curtiz’s 1945 adaptation.

These costumes, worn by series stars Kate Winslet (as Mildred Pierce) and Evan Rachel Wood (as Veda Pierce), are now on exhibit in Behind the Screen, along with original drawings by renowned costume designer Ann Roth.
